




Lincoln-Way students show
off art projects
at state exhibit
Fifteen students from the Lincoln-Way School District have been selected to showcase artwork at the fifth annual Illinois High School Art Exhibition and have qualified to earn a scholarship. The show runs through March 9 at the Zhou B Art Center in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood. Participating students from Lincoln-Way Central High School are Melanie Piunti, Sarah Ralph, Russell Klopp, Jaclyn Duske and Morgan Zavoral. Participants from Lincoln-Way East are Ariel Sargent, Audrey Vanderpool, Emily Hasson, Alissa Barr and Jacob Arends. Participants from Lincoln-Way West are Alexi Bersamin, Alanna Ledvina, Morgan Burke, Danielle Koska and Alina Park.
Gaelic Park
to select Irish Festival Queen
Gaelic Park will elect a new Irish Festival Queen and a runner-up at the community center, 6119 West 147th St., Oak Forest, on March 3. The Irish Festival Queen will participate in ceremonies, contests, Irish Fest and several other activities in March. She will also be given the high seat atop the Gaelic Park float in St. Patrick’s Day parades. The winners also will be presented prizes included a $700 travel voucher. Marist sets alumni reunion, awards event
Marist High School will host its annual alumni reunion and awards dinner on March 9 at the school. The night will include Hall of Fame inductions, Time & Eternity Award presentations, and reunions for the classes of 1968, 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 1998 and 2003. The awards ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. This year’s Hall of Fame inductees are the coaches and players from the 1978 state championship baseball team, former football coach Patrick Dunne, of Palos Heights, and baseball and basketball standout Tom Malloy, of LaGrange. The Time & Eternity Award, which recognizes those who have met the pinnacle of their career or service to the greater community, will be given to neurosurgeon Richard Byrne, gastroenterologist Kevin Dolehide, of Beverly, retired U.S. Navy Capt. Dennis Haines and the late Michael Martin. The reunion portion of the evening begins at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $80 per person and includes open bar, appetizers and dinner buffet. Saint Xavier holding free health fair
Free health screenings, assessments and information are available at Saint Xavier University’s 15th annual free Community Health Fair from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 23 in the Shannon Center at the university’s Chicago campus, 3700 West 103rd St. The fair is a “one-stop shop” of free health services, including free screenings and assessments for blood pressure, blood glucose, bone density, hearing and vision, injuries, stress, body mass index, spinal cord and more.
