Storytellers seeks reading volunteers

Local literacy group St. Vrain Valley Storytellers is looking for senior volunteers to serve elementary schoolchildren in the St. Vrain Valley School District. Storytellers visit a classroom once a month and tell traditional stories to students in kindergarten through fifth grade.

To become a storyteller, interested volunteers must participate in four three-hour training courses held in Longmont.

Cost for the courses is $75, which covers training materials, a name badge and the first year of membership in St. Vrain Valley Storytellers. Courses begin Tuesday.

Shots fired in road rage incident on Peak to Peak Highway

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a reported shooting following a road-rage incident on Peak to Peak Highway on Thursday.

Boulder County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Carrie Haverfield said the caller reported that a person in a white pickup truck fired shots off into the air at about 2 p.m. on Colo. 72 outside Nederland.

No injuries or property damage were reported.

Boulder County agencies searched the Boulder Canyon Drive area for the truck, but were unable to locate it.
