Assault with a deadly weapon: On Nov. 23 at around 1:31 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence located on the 1700 block of Brown Avenue about a verbal argument. The investigation revealed that Mark Meyers, a 27-year-old Woodland resident, had attempted to run over a female adult with a vehicle. Meyers was gone from the area however, an officer saw him driving a vehicle and attempted an enforcement stop. Meyers stopped his car, ignored commands, and drove away. Officers anticipated Meyers returning home and eventually took him into custody. Meyers was booked into the Yolo County Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, delaying an officer, and committing a felony while released on bail.
Robbery arrest: On Nov. 25 at around 5:11 p.m., officers responded to a business located on the 1200 block of East Gibson Road due to a suspect pushing an employee and fleeing with items. The investigation showed that an employee tried to prevent the theft of a shopping cart full of items. One suspect, an adult female, pushed the employee and fled with the items and the shopping cart. Two other females also fled the scene and were believed to be involved. Officers located a person matching one suspect’s description with a shopping cart full of items and detained them. The suspect was identified as Makayela Steinke, a 32-year-old Woodland resident. Steinke was arrested and booked into the Yolo County Jail for robbery, resisting officers, and conspiracy.
Stolen vehicle arrest: On Nov. 27 at around 4:21 p.m., a vehicle had been reported stolen from Oregon. The owner was alerted that their credit card was used in Woodland, so they contacted Woodland Police. While responding to the store where the card was used, an officer spotted the stolen vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The driver, Patrick Miller, a 64-year-old Florida resident, was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was recovered and Miller was booked into the Yolo County Jail.
Firearm arrest: On Nov. 28 at around 12:59, officers were waived down by individuals reporting a male had chased them while pointing a handgun at them near East Main Street and Johnston Street. A male matching the description was spotted. He ran from officers and threw a handgun into the backyard of a residence. Officers apprehended the male, Randy Marquez, a 36-year-old Woodland resident. Officers located the firearm, which was not registered. Marquez had a magazine and live rounds that were the same caliber as the handgun he threw. Marquez was a prohibited person due to previously being convicted of a felony. Marquez was booked into the Yolo County Jail for felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, resisting officers, and a prohibited person in possession of ammunition.

HOST made 55 contacts and offered services to 25 individuals; 18 accepted services.
HOST tagged 16 camps and cleaned up 17. HOST conducted 10 downtown patrols.
HOST routinely makes contact with individuals who refuse any help. This week was positive because several individuals accepted some form of help. Winter is a really tough time of the year to be living without shelter. Sometimes, offering clean, dry socks, a blanket, or a connection to a program makes a big difference for someone experiencing homelessness. Our HOST Officers are empathetic to the basic needs and necessities of individuals. Many times, this extra effort and care helps build rapport, influencing an individual to change their life course.
