Pomona police on Monday night shot and killed a man, who was armed with a gun and had been chasing two people, authorities said.

No officer was injured.

The shooting occurred just after 10 p.m. near Murchison Avenue and Stratus Drive in Pomona.

Police received a 911 call at 9:54 p.m. with a caller reporting a man with a gun chasing two other men in the 1300 block of Nimbus Court, sheriff’s Lt. Michael Modica said.

Officers checked the area and saw a man matching the suspect’s description at Murchison and Stratus, he said.

When officers tried to talk to him, he produced a handgun and pointed it at an officer, Modica said.

Three officers shot at the man, he said.

The man, who had a gunshot wound to his upper torso, died at the scene. Investigators found a loaded handgun.

As of Tuesday morning, the medical examiner’s office had not yet publicly identified him. However, relatives told KTTV Channel 11 the man shot was Isaac Cannon, 20, of Rancho Cucamonga. His family told the TV station they believe he was a robbery victim and was chasing two people involved in the crime.
