A big seven-run first inning held up as Redwood High junior Jack Moseley was solid on the mound during the Giants’ 8-1 home victory over Marin Catholic baseball on Tuesday.

Moseley gave up one run in the top of the first, but settled down for six shutout innings after that as he struck out nine batters and walked two during a complete-game five-hitter.

Junior Theo Trono was 3-for-4 with a double as he scored and drove in a run. Moseley had a pair of hits, including a double, with two RBIs and a run scored as the GIants banged out 10 hits. Redwood junior Ethan Ferry made 10 putouts.

• Junior Dara Zolfaghari doubled twice, scored two runs and had a pair of RBIs to help power Tam to a 13-0 home victory over Branson on Tuesday. Junior Timo Ural doubled and drove in three runs, while Tito Fierstein and Finnegan McGrane each had a hit, an RBI and a run scored. Jackson Van Til and Lars Jackson combined on a two-hitter for Tam, with five strikeouts. Holden Cane had a pair of hits for Branson, including a double.

• Brady Stewart had a pair of hits, including a double, in Marin Academy’s 22-4 loss to hist University on Tuesday. The Wildcats’ Reed Meyer had a pair of hits, including a triple and three RBIs.

College baseball

College of Marin launched three home runs during Tuesday’s 15-4 home victory over Contra Costa. Wyatt Davis and Dante Caiati both homered and doubled.

Davis had three RBIs and scored twice during a 3-for-5 day, while Caiati had two RBIs and three runs on four big hits. Kisho Li Kircher also homered, with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Prep softball

Taylor Testa allowed one hit over five innings as San Marin ended Archie Williams’ unbeaten MCAL run in emphatic fashion with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday night. The game was moved to San Marin after being postponed due to rain on Monday.

Testa struck out seven hitters. San Marin (6-3, 3-2) scored four times in the second then added two runs in each of the next three innings to close it out. Leah Cronin and Khylie Inthiratvongsy had two RBIs apiece to pace San Marin. Avery Bishop and Lauren Fong had two hits apiece. Parker Conrad had the lone hit for Archie Williams (9-3, 4-1).

• Ava Brown, Steela Belluomini, and Hailey Carlton had two hits and two RBIs apiece as Redwood rolled to a 12-5 victory against Novato on Tuesday. Both teams scored twice in the first inning before Redwood (8-6, 4-1) blew the game open with a nine-run fourth inning. Ashley Ball and Adriella Marcus had two hits each for Redwood. Seanna Madsen and Claire Hannan both reached bases three times for Novato (3-10, 0-5) with a hit and two walks.

Women’s lacrosse

Dominican University wrapped up the regular season with a 13-4 road victory over William Jewell in Missouri on Tuesday. Freshman Kyra Evans posted four goals for the Penguins (11-1). The Penguins are expected to be the No. 3 seed when the Mountain East Conference playoffs begin May 1.

Boys golf

Tam High’s Ben Friedman shot a 2-under 34 at Marin Country Club on Tuesday to lead the Red-tailed Hawks to a winning 182 score, ahead of Novato (217) and Archie Williams (221). The Hornets’ Jackson Devine fired a 39 and Calvin Gundee led the Peregrine Falcons with a 41.

Tuesday’s baseball game between Archie Williams and Terra Linda has been postponed to Wednesday, 4:30 p.m., at Terra Linda High. Also, the San Rafael-Novato game has been moved to Wednesday.

Monday’s softball game between the Peregrine Falcons and Trojans was postponed to Thursday, 4:30 p.m., at Terra Linda. Wednesday’s Novato-San Rafael softball game has been moved to Novato, due to San Rafael’s field conditions.
