San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama is officially headed back to All-Star weekend.

Wembanyama was picked for his second consecutive Rising Stars event, which will be played on Feb. 14 in San Francisco on the first night of the three-night All-Star lineup.

The Rising Stars is a one-night tournament, featuring four rosters of seven players each. Teams will play semifinal games where the first to 40 points wins; those semifinal winners will then play in a championship game, with the winning team being the first one to 25 points.

Wembanyama is one of 11 second-year players picked for the games. He is also expected to be a serious candidate to be picked as a reserve for the Feb. 16 All-Star Game tournament.

The other second-year players selected: Washington’s Bilal Coulibaly, Toronto’s Gradey Dick, Utah’s Keyonte George, Portland’s Scoot Henderson, Golden State’s Trayce Jackson-Davis, Miami’s Jaime Jaquez Jr., Dallas’ Dereck Lively II, Charlotte’s Brandon Miller, Houston’s Amen Thompson and Oklahoma City’s Cason Wallace.

The rookies picked for Rising Stars were the Lakers’ Dalton Knecht, Washington teammates Alex Sarr and Bub Carrington, San Antonio’s Stephon Castle, Orlando’s Tristan da Silva, Memphis teammates Zach Edey and Jaylen Wells, Philadelphia’s Jared McCain, New Orleans’ Yves Missi and Atlanta’s Zaccharie Risacher.

The fourth team in the Rising Stars will be composed of G League players: two-time defending slam dunk contest champion Mac McClung of the Osceola Magic, JD Davison of the Maine Celtics, Bryce McGowens of the Rip City Remix, Leonard Miller of the Iowa Wolves, Dink Pate of the Mexico City Capitanes, Reed Sheppard of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Pat Spencer of the Santa Cruz Warriors.

The winning team in the Rising Stars tournament will be the fourth team in the All-Star Game, alongside three teams of NBA players.

WARRIORS TO HONOR IGUODALA: The Golden State Warriors announced that Andre Iguodala is becoming the seventh player to have his number retired by the franchise — set to join Rick Barry (24), Wilt Chamberlain (13), Nate Thurmond (42), Al Attles (16), Chris Mullin (17) and Tom Meschery (14).

Golden State will honor Iguodala and hang his No. 9 jersey following an afternoon game against Dallas on Feb. 23.

The 40-year-old Iguodala retired in October 2023 after 19 NBA seasons and four championships with Golden State, including an NBA Finals MVP award in 2015. Shortly after announcing he was done playing, Iguodala became the acting executive director of the National Basketball Players Association.

Iguodala was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft out of Arizona and played in 1,231 career games. He spent eight seasons with the Warriors, winning titles in 2015, ’17, ’18 and 2022.

DRAFT DATES SET: The NBA is using the two-night draft format again this year, announcing that the 2025 event will take place on June 25-26 at the Barclays Center, home of the Brooklyn Nets.

ROCKETS 100, HAWKS 96: Jalen Green scored 12 of his 25 points in the third quarter and visiting Houston avoided a late collapse to beat Atlanta for its fourth straight victory.

Alperen Sengun added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Rockets.

Trae Young had 21 points and nine assists for Atlanta, which lost its sixth straight.
