Resident of Sunnyvale

Dick’s early life in Milwaukee was selling newspapers on the street corner at age 9, performing altar boy duties, and organizing baseball teams with his buddy Ray. At 17 he joined the Marines and served on Guadalcanal in WWII. Following that he earned an EE degree at Marquette, then worked for Westinghouse and Lockheed in Sunnyvale. After retirement he worked as a substitute teacher for Fremont high school district. He loved teaching and the students loved him. They called him “Mr. Up”, which became the title of his autobiography.

Dick is survived by 2 sons, John, Kent, daughter Anne, and son Patrick,(predeceased), 5 granddaughters, 3 great grand children, brother and sister-in-law, Victor, Lynne, and 3 nieces, Nicole, Danielle, and Ariana.

A memorial will be held at Lima Mortuary in Sunnyvale, on Thursday, May 22at12:30. His ashes will be buried at 2:00 pm at Gate of Heaven in Los Altos to honor his time spent in Military as a proud Marine.
