


SANTA CRUZ >> At approximately, 5 a.m. Friday morning, a pedestrian walking southbound on Highway 1 north of Soquel Avenue was struck by a vehicle and killed.
According to a statement from California Highway Patrol, a 44-year-old Santa Cruz woman was driving a gray 2013 Toyota Camry early Friday when she struck a 73-year-old man who was walking on the highway for unknown reasons.
California Highway Patrol is still investigating the reason for the collision, which caused major injuries to the pedestrian who was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel despite their life-saving efforts. The CHP said it is unknown in drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
