The Santa Fe football team secured a spot in the CIF Southern Section playoffs and will play for an undisputed Del Rio League title next week after picking up a 21-14 win over El Rancho on Friday night.
Santa Fe will host La Serna at Pioneer High on Friday with the league title at stake.
The Chiefs had a big game from their star running back Devin Clark as he ran wild for 216 yards and a touchdown in their win over the Dons.
“I mean, we just bought our ticket to the playoffs, second year going to the playoffs in a row,” Clark said. “I love it. Last year I was only a backup, this year I’m leading my team.”
Clark had 135 yards in the first half as he was a one-man wrecking crew to start the game.
Santa Fe broke the ice first when the Chiefs reached deep into the playbook and ran a double pass that resulted in a 31-yard touchdown strike from Chiefs wide receiver Sebastian Macias to Alex Soria.

SERRA 52, BISHOP AMAT: 21: Senior defensive back CJ McBean sparked a 24-point, second-quarter surge by Serra (7-2, 4-0) with two interceptions, including one that he returned 35 yards for a touchdown, en route to a Mission League victory over Bishop Amat (2-7, 0-4).
Bishop Amat tried to bounce back as Jerry Rojo caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Adrian Martinez with 2:21 to play in the first half to cut the lead to 10.
After a failed onside kick attempt by the Lancers set Serra up at the Amat 45, the Cavaliers scored again to go up 31-14 with 52 seconds before halftime.

COVINA 40, SOUTH HILLS 35: After being held to one touchdown for almost all of the first half, Covina (8-1, 4-0) scored on four of its final five drives to secure a win and at least a share of the Hacienda League title.
“The teams in the league have been pretty tough and to get this win against a local team in our city felt good,” Covina quarterback Jake Duronslet said.
The Colts’ fifth straight victory required another 40-point output and some key plays down the stretch in the fourth quarter by Duronslet and teammates.
South Hills dropped to 4-5, 2-2.
Duronslet finished with two rushing touchdowns, one passing touchdown and 227 yards of total offense. Kwame Parrish finished with 120 yards rushing and a TD.

DON LUGO 22, ROWLAND 15: Junior Teo Tucay rushed 25 times for 120 yards and Don Lugo came from behind to defeat Rowland at Don Lugo High.
The victory clinched at least a share of the league title for Don Lugo (4-5 overall, 2-0 Gano) and the league’s No. 1 entry into the CIF Southern Section playoffs. Rowland dropped to 6-3, 1-1.
“We’re obviously used to throwing the ball, but now that we can get the run game going and be dual threat as an offense, it opens up things,” Don Lugo acting head coach Daniel Fierro said.
Rowland entered the game focused on shutting down Don Lugo’s passing game, playing much of the game with only three down linemen on early downs.
Tucay, who entered the game with just 97 yards rushing this season, set the pace, while senior Adam Luna added 10 carries for 64 yards and a touchdown.
“They have a great quarterback, good skill guys. We just wanted to make them play left-handed, so to speak,” Rowland coach Citos Marinez said. “We pride ourselves in playing championship defense and they put us in position (to win).”
