Preceded in death by parents Jack and Helen; and sister Jill. Survived by wife Gail; daughter Amy (Dana) Oelkers; brother Bob (Penny) Whereatt; sister and brother-in-law Lynn and Tom Rusch; and grandson Bennett. Jack was born in Oshawa, ON and graduated from high school in Chippewa Falls, WI. Agifted athlete, Jack played hockey, football, and baseball, and ran track. He spent a summer playing minor league baseball before enlisting in the military to play for the Army team all across Europe.

Once stateside he enrolled at Hamline University. A lifelong educator, Jack spent his career teaching science in the Mounds View school district.

Teaching swimming, coaching, playing softball, and golfing and skiing well into his mid-80s, Jack loved sports and being outdoors. Few things brought him more pleasure than paddling in the BWCA with Gail, gardening with Amy, skiing with Lynn and Tom, or golfing with Bob and Dana. Jack was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 50 years.

He loved dessert almost as much as he loved his family and his dogs.

Memorial service Saturday, Oct. 12 at 11am, New Brighton LDS Chapel, 100 Silver Lake Rd NW, New Brighton, MN 55112, visitation at 10am. Memorials preferred to LDS Philanthropies, Mounds View Schools Education Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
