St. John Police are investigating a Thursday call that threatened a school shooting at Kolling School.

Shortly before 3 p.m. on Sept. 5, administrators at Kolling School alerted Lake Central’s student resource officer that the school received a call from a male juvenile, saying he was going to “shoot up the school at 2:55 p.m, police spokesman Roger Patz said in a release. Administrators then put the school on a stay-in-place hold while officers searched the outside of the school.

Officers didn’t find anything suspicious, Patz said, and school dismissal resumed at 3:37 pm.

So far, officers haven’t identified who made the call, but Patz reminded that “any threat made to a school is a serious matter.” He added the department has no reason to believe there’s any further danger.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Department and other surrounding agencies assisted.
