



Isaac Paredes hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the seventh inning after Christian Walker’s two-run homer in the sixth tied it up, leading the Houston Astros to a 3-2 win over the visiting San Diego Padres on Saturday.
Walker, who was moved out of the cleanup spot for the first time after batting .159 through the first 19 games, homered on a 1-0 sweeper from Michael King with two outs, his second of the season.
Fernando Tatis Jr. hit his seventh homer of the season in the third inning. Manny Machado added to the early lead when he followed a Tatis single and stolen base with an RBI double in the fifth for the Padres, who lost back-to-back games for the second time this season.
Rays 10, Yankees 8 (10): Brandon Lowe tied the score with a two-run single in a four-run ninth inning off Devin Williams, Jonathan Aranda hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th and Tampa Bay stopped New York’s five-game winning streak.
Given an 8-4 lead, Wil- liams allowed José Caballero’s one-out single, then walked No 9 batter Ben Rortvedt. Chandler Simpson hit an RBI double to left for his first big league hit, Yandy Díaz hit a run-scoring infield single and Lowe singled to left.
After New York wasted runners at the corners with no outs in the 10th, Arenda led off the bottom half against Yoendrys Gómez with his fourth homer, stopping the Rays’ four-game losing streak.
Mets 3, Cardinals 0: Kodai Senga extended his scoreless streak to 19 innings, Pete Alonso hit his sixth homer and New York defeated visiting St. Louis for the third straight day.
Senga (3-1) gave up three hits and two walks in 5 2/3 innings with four strikeouts, lowering his ERA to 0.79.
Cubs 6, Diamondbacks 2: Seiya Suzuki and Michael Busch hit consecutive home runs in a four-run second-inning, and Chicago beat Arizona at Wrigley Field.
Kyle Tucker tripled and drove in two runs along with Suzuki and Busch.
Zac Gallen (1-3) allowed six runs and seven hits in six innings.
Orioles 9, Reds 5: Ramón Laureano came off the bench and hit two home runs, and Baltimore went deep five times in a home victory over Cincinnati.
Cedric Mullins and Gunnar Henderson led off the first with back-to-back home runs off Hunter Greene (2-2), who lasted only three innings and allowed five runs. Jordan Westburg also homered for Baltimore.
Nationals 12, Rockies 11: Jordan Beck took a called third strike from Kyle Finnegan to end the game with a runner on third, and Washington held on to beat host Colorado after nearly wasting a 10-run lead.
Dylan Crews homered twice, had three hits and four runs; James Wood had four RBIs, three hits and a home run; and Josh Bell homered as Washington built a 12-2 seventh-inning lead.
Colorado has lost seven straight, dropping to a big league-worst 3-16.
Washington’s MacKenzie Gore (2-2) tied his career high with 13 strikeouts, allowing two runs and four hits in six innings.
Guardians 3, Pirates 0: Kyle Manzardo spoiled Paul Skenes’ bobblehead day, taking the young Pittsburgh ace deep in the seventh inning of Cleveland’s road victory.
Ben Lively (1-2) and four relievers combined to hold the Pirates to six hits.
Phillies 11, Marlins 10: Trea Turner had four hits, Bryson Stott and Johan Rojas each had three and host Philadelphia survived Miami’s six-run ninth inning.
Philadelphia scored seven runs over the third and fourth innings to seemingly blow open the game and went on to outhit the Marlins 18-15 to win for the fourth time in five games.
Dane Myers hit a three-run homer and Liam Hicks added a two-run shot, both off Jordan Romano, as part of a six-run ninth for the Marlins.
Braves 4, Twins 3: Alex Verdugo, making his second start as Atlanta’s left fielder and leadoff hitter, had four hits that included a go-ahead single in the sixth inning, and the Braves beat visiting Minnesota for their first back-to-back wins of the season.
Athletics 3, Brewers 1: Luis Severino allowed three hits and one run over eight innings for his first win with the Athletics since signing a $67 million, three-year contract with the team, while Brent Rooker and Shea Langeliers homered in a victory at Milwaukee.
Red Sox 4, White Sox 3 (10): Triston Casas hit a bases-loaded single off the Green Monster to drive in the winning run with one out in the 10th inning, lifting Boston over Chicago.
Rafael Devers hit a three-run homer for Boston, which won its fourth straight.
Mariners 8, Blue Jays 4 (12): Randy Arozarena hit a tiebreaking single in the 12th inning, Rowdy Tellez added his fifth career grand slam and Seattle stopped host Toronto’s three-game winning streak.
Tigers 3, Royals 1: Spencer Torkelson hit a tiebreaking, three-run homer in the fifth inning off Seth Lugo (1-3), and Detroit extended visiting Kansas City’s losing streak to six.
