




A mandatory shelter in place order was lifted in the area of 40th Street and Table Mesa Drive on Monday night after Boulder police SWAT officers negotiated for several hours with an armed man.
Police announced in a 7:41 p.m. post on X that there was no longer a threat to the public and police would remain on scene in the coming hours to investigate. According to police, officers would continue to coordinate with residents to get them in and out of the neighborhood.
In a 5:30 p.m. post, police had said that SWAT was on scene and attempting βto safely take him into custody without anyone getting injured.β
As of 4:30 p.m., all lanes of Table Mesa Drive at 40th Street were closed.
According to an alert by the CU Police Department, the mandatory shelter in place order was connected to a Monday afternoon shelter in place order that had been issued in the area of the Folsom Parking Garage and Champion Center.
CUPD had asked the public to avoid the area of the Folsom Parking Garage and Champion Center until 3:29 p.m., when university police said the shelter in place had been lifted and the Folsom Garage was secure.
In a 2:39 p.m. post on X by CUPD, the university had said there was a large police presence in that area.
