


San Marin High sophomore Taylor Testa threw a complete-game four-hitter to lead the Mustangs to a 2-1 victory over Marin Catholic in Thursday’s MCAL championship game. Testa struck out three batters and walked none.
Marin Catholic freshman pitcher Malliah Foster held the Mustangs to five hits across six innings.

Boys tennis
Redwood High continued its march through the North Coast Section Division I boys tennis field with Thursday’s 6-1 quarterfinal victory over No. 7 Mission San Jose in Larkspur. The second-seeded Giants’ only loss came with a forfeit at No. 1 singles due to illness.
Casra Afsharipour, who played No. 1 singles in the first round, earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles in Thursday’s second round. Will Greenwald and Lukas Berger picked up quick wins at No. 3 and 4 singles, respectively.
Redwood’s Cal Fazal and Alejandro Puentes won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Tug Ricordel and Liam Martinez won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles. The Giants’ Tino and Owen Adams battled to a 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Giants will face either No. 3 Amador Valley or No. 6 Monte Vista in Saturday’s semifinals at James Logan High.
• No. 8 Marin Academy fell 5-2 to top-seeded Head Royce in the NCS D-II quarterfinals on Thursday. Head Royce will face either No. 5 Branson or No. 4 Acalanes in Saturday’s semifinal.
Baseball
