Jaland Lowe scored 27 points and dished out eight assists, Cameron Corhen had 19 points and 11 rebounds and the Pittsburgh men’s basketball team used a big second half to beat Cal 86-74 on Wednesday.

Cal led by 16 points with 4:19 left in the first half before missing its last six shots of the half to have the lead trimmed to 42-38.
Pitt led by at least six points over the final eight minutes. Cal was 1 of 7 from 3-point range in the second half.
Jeremiah Wilkinson led Cal (7-6, 0-2) with 21 points. Andrej Stojakovic added 19 points, 10 coming at the free-throw line, and Rytis Petraitis scored 11.
Both teams are on the court again on Saturday, with Cal playing at Clemson and Pitt hosting Stanford.
Clemson rolls past Stanford, 85-71 >> Chase Hunter scored 22 points, Chauncey Wiggins had a season-high 17 points and Clemson beat Stanford 85-71 at home.
It was tied at 52-all with 14:37 remaining before Clemson (11-3, 3-0 ACC) went on a 10-0 run with scoring from four different players. Myles Foster scored the next six Clemson points to make it 68-57 and Stanford did not get closer than nine points the rest of the way.
Oziyah Sellers scored 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting for Stanford (9-4, 1-1). Maxime Raynaud had 14 points and 13 rebounds.
LeBron’s youngest son commits to Arizona >> Bryce James, son of NBA star LeBron James, is heading to Arizona.
Bryce James will be the second of LeBron’s sons to play Division I basketball. Bronny James played one season at USC before turning pro. He was drafted by his father’s team, the Los Angeles Lakers, and they became the first father and son to play together in an NBA game.
A 6-foot-4 shooting guard, Bryce James is rated as a four-star prospect out of Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth in the 247 Sports composite.

Garoppolo to make his Rams debut as starting QB >> Former 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will take his first snaps for the Rams when he starts in place of Matthew Stafford in playoff-bound Los Angeles’ regular-season finale against Seattle on Sunday.
Coach Sean McVay announced the decision to rest Stafford, the 16-year veteran starter. The Rams haven’t decided which additional starters will rest.
Los Angeles (10-6) has clinched the NFC West title over the Seahawks (9-7) based on strength of schedule.

Chiefs to start Wentz at QB >> The Chiefs will rest Patrick Mahomes and start backup Carson Wentz at quarterback on Sunday in Denver in a game that means nothing to Kansas City, which has already clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs, but could mean everything to the Broncos.
The Broncos would clinch a playoff berth as the No. 7 seed by beating the Chiefs, earning a trip to Buffalo for their postseason opener. If they lose, they would need the Jets to beat the Dolphins and the Steelers to beat the Bengals.

Gauff, Fritz put U.S. in United Cup semifinals >> Coco Gauff and Taylor Fritz powered the U.S., tournament winner two years ago, into the semifinals of the United Cup mixed teams tennis event in Perth, Australia.
In the first singles match, Gauff had a 7-6 (4), 6-2 win over China’s Zhang Shuai. Fritz then made sure of victory for the U.S. by edging Zhang Zhizhen 6-4, 6-4.
The U.S. next meets either Italy or Czech Republic, who play their quarterfinal on Friday.
