Resident of San Jose Valerie died peacefully on December 23, 2023 surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Bob, her children, daughter, Jill Feller, grandchildren Bryndan and Sheridan Feller, son Rob Facchino II (Deborah Berti), grandchildren Paige Facchino Bell ( Jack Bell), Robert Facchino III, son Dan Facchino, sister in law Maureen Facchino Stickler, niece Karisa Stickler Flores (Greg Flores), great nephews Adrian and Garrett Flores. Sister Arlene Jespersen and brother in law Ron (deceased), and nephew Chris Jespersen.
Valerie was born September, 3, 1940 in Seattle, Washington. She was raised by her mother Bernice Dale, and attended the local schools. She attended Canyonville Christian Academy, a boarding school in Oregon, graduating in 1958. Valerie then moved to San Jose and worked as a secretary for the San Jose Labor Union. Valerie met Bob on a blind date in 1958. It was a set up by one of Bob’s Bellarmine friends. The rest is history!
Married in 1963, after a 4 year courtship, Bob and Valerie had 3 children. Valerie will be remembered for her love of her dear family and her faith of her religion. She was very committed to her community. She volunteered at her children’s school, St.
Frances Cabrini, The Sisters of Mercy, and Good Samaritan Hospital just to name a few.
She also helped in the office at Facchino Freight Lines when the girls were on vacation.
Throughout her life Valerie remained physically active, enjoying aerobics, racquetball and hiking. Hiking in the beautiful hills of Tuscany Italy was by far her favorite! She was also a member of Almaden and Indian Wells Country Clubs where she enjoyed golf with her husband Bob, family and friends.
Valerie traveled to 58 countries. She enjoyed an African Safari, visiting Egypt and taking a trip down the Nile. In Jerusalem she walked the Via Dolorosa. She climbed the Sydney Harbor Bridge in Australia, hiked Machu Picchu in Peru, South America, walked around The Great Wall of China, and visited the Terra Cotta Warriors in Xian, but without a doubt Italy (especially Florence) was her favorite destination.
Valerie was so proud of her four grandchildren and the fine adults they became. She enjoyed every moment with them and their families.
Valerie will be missed by her family, friends and the many lives she touched throughout her lifetime.
