Two more pieces to the puzzle for the 2025-26 season have come together for the Colorado women’s basketball team.
On Wednesday, former DePaul guard Maeve McErlane and former North Texas guard Desiree Wooten verbally committed to the Buffaloes and head coach JR Payne.
Wooten, a 5-foot-8 guard from Dallas, was second-team All-AAC this past season, while also landing on the AAC all-defensive team. She was second at UNT in scoring (11.5 points per game), while also posting 3.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
A fourth-year junior next season, Wooten missed her freshman season (2022-23) with a knee injury but has played in 65 of 66 games for the Mean Green the past two years, helping them go 48-18. In 2023-24, she averaged 5.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals.
A 5-foot-10 guard from Philadelphia, McErlane spent the past three seasons at DePaul but did not play in this past year because of injury. She will have two years of eligibility remaining.
During the 2023-24 season, McErlane played in 31 games with 25 starts. She averaged 4.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists for the Blue Demons. As a freshman in 2022-23, she played in 13 games, averaging 1.2 points and 1.5 assists.
CU has added four transfers this offseason. Earlier in April, former Gonzaga guard Claire O’Connor and former Kansas State guard Zyanna Walker committed to the Buffs.
CU now has 13 players slated for the 2025-26 season. Payne and her staff have two open scholarship spots but may not use both. Payne has rarely used all 15 scholarship spots during her tenure with the Buffs.
