A 48-year-old man suited up for the Blackhawks on Thursday during their morning skate.

The team’s goalie coach, Jimmy Waite, was in full pads much more out of need than want, though.

Before the Hawks officially could call up Jean-Francois Berube from Rockford, they had to wait for Jeff Glass to clear waivers, leaving Anton Forsberg as the team’s lone goalie for the warmup before Thursday night’s 3-2 loss to the Ducks at the United Center — the Hawks’ eighth straight defeat.

As expected, Glass cleared and Berube was recalled as Waite sat exhausted in the Blackhawks dressing room.

“Our goaltending, with (Corey Crawford) out for the longest stretch, did everything it could to … keep us in games,” Hawks coach Joel Quenneville said. “Consistency was what we were looking for. Recently, a few ordinary games, but for the most part you have to say they did a good job for us.”

Three of the four goals Glass allowed Tuesday against Vegas came on consecutive shots. He allowed 10 goals in his last three appearances and was 3-6-3 with a 3.31 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage.

Berube appeared in one game for the Hawks this season, allowing two goals on 14 shots in relief. Berube has appeared in 21 NHL games over three seasons. He has a .900 save percentage and a 3.11 goals-against.

Crawford was at the United Center but not on the ice for the morning skate.

Quenneville said the team remains hopeful he will play again this season but offered no timetable for a possible return.

Crawford has been on injured reserve since Dec. 27 with what the team has called an upper-body injury, reportedly concussion-related.

“Still can’t give you a good timeline on it,” Quenneville said. “Right now I can’t say he’ll be on the ice (Friday).”

Droughts over:Duncan Keith scored his first goal of the season on his 139th shot to put the Hawks up 1-0 less than two minutes into the second period Thursday night against the Ducks.

It was the defenseman’s first score since March 16, 2017, against the Senators. He had gone 71 games, including four in the playoffs, and 169 shots without a goal.

Brandon Saad also broke a mini-drought when he put the Hawks up 2-0 later in the second, his first goal since Jan. 7.
