Good news about Marin people

Recognition: Marin IJ columnist Jeff Burkhart was awarded the Individual Service Award from Lifehouse, Inc., a San Rafael-based nonprofit that provides services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Recognition: Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co. won four awards at the World Cheese Awards in Viseu, Portugal. Fennel Blue and TomaRashi earned silver awards, while TomaProvence and TomaTruffle earned bronze awards.

“We’ve known our unique, flavored cheeses are super popular with consumers, as retailers tell us they have a hard time keeping up with demand,” says Kuba Hemmerling, vice president of operations at Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co. “But to see such a prestigious panel of international critics also recognize these cheeses for quality, that is incredibly gratifying. I’m so appreciative to share this award with our entire creamery team.”
