SAN JOSE — Two men were arrested last month on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and vehicular burglary for allegedly pointing a gun at a man while robbing his vehicle, authorities said.

The two men, who are both 28-year-old residents of Oakland, were burglarizing a vehicle shortly after 3:30 a.m. May 2 in San Jose when an adult man confronted them, according to a news release from the San Jose Police Department. The two men pointed a gun and shot it toward the victim at least once. Before police arrived, the two men stole work tools and fled the scene.

In their investigation, police found that the two men had stolen a vehicle that morning, authorities said.

Investigators also found that the men had carried out a second vehicular burglary in San Jose on May 25, when they broke into two vehicles at a house and stole work tools, authorities said. When a man confronted them, one of the men shot at least once at him.

Police did not report any injuries after either incident.

The cases were investigated by the SJPD Robbery Unit Detectives, authorities said. When the two men were arrested June 24, officers executed a search warrant and found evidence of the crimes, police added.

The two suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, burglary and vehicle theft, authorities said.
