Mill Valley

Deborah Dorosin was born in Kokomo, Indiana in the spring of 1936. (Samuel and Bessie Friendman-Kopelov.) She passed away on August 11th, 2024 in Marin County. After receiving her BA in speech therapy from The University ofMichigan, Debbie moved to San Francisco, where she began working in schools in the Oakland area. She met her husband, Lee Dorosin, through mutual friends. They were married within 6 months because, ‘when you know you know.’ Debbie and Lee Dorosin moved to Mill Valley in 1960 and stayed for the rest of their lives, raising two daughters and hiking every trail on Mount Tamalpais.

Thepairalsoenjoyed travel adventures in Vietnam, Israel, Cuba, Egypt and Latin America. After Lee passed away in 2004, Debbie formed a lasting relationship with Ike Silberman, who gave her much happiness until his death in2022.

Debbie Dorosin was an avid horsewoman and a devotee of classical music. But her greatest loves were nature and her family. Together with Lee, Deborah roamed the parklands of Tamalpais, Yellowstone, Mammoth, Glacier, Sequoia and Alaska, identifying wild flowers and forming lasting friendships. Lee and Debbie were members of The Sierra Club, The Tamalpais Conservation Club, The Alpine Club and The Berkeley Hiking Club.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Leslie, her husband Steve, daughter Elizabeth, grandchildren Sydney, Maddie, Henry and Lucy, and great-grandson, Calvin. AMemorial Service will be held at Congregation Rodef Shalom (San Rafael) onSundayOc- tober 20th at 2pm. Donations preferred to any of the groups listed below, The Kamala Harris Campaign, or The Jewish Children &Family Services.
