The failing green agenda
Re “State’s carbon crusade hits roadblocks” (Feb. 2):
The carbon crusade, in general, is an abject failure. The carbon dioxide emissions in 2020 was about 412 ppm. Today it’s at 422 ppm. Practically and politically the state’s carbon crusade is not viable. The resources spent were a waste.
Obviously, incompetence in government is at fault and its actions have even increased the issue’s problem. Over and over again the green agenda has failed. It’s time to redo its mission and the program’s direction with new leadership.

Federal workforce
Re “Let’s try to be a little objective” (Feb. 2):
Fleming deliberately misleads the public into believing that we have a bloated federal workforce. Any simple internet search will demonstrate that our public workforce is among the smallest of global governments.
Their myriad jobs, effectively to run the country, include rooting out corruption, citizens’ health, pollution, paying the bills and policing illicit behavior, especially that of large corporations. Without their expertise, we will be a poorer, more corrupt nation. It does not require one to be a genius to understand the true purpose of gutting that workforce in a time of oligarchs.

Wildfire victims beware
Re “Los Angeles County blazes spark ‘feeding frenzy’ among lawyers, raising ethics concerns” (Feb. 2):
I saw for the first time an ad on cable news by lawyers looking for business last night. The buzzards are circling; Al Sharpton will be in Pasadena this week and the ambulance chasers right on people’s tails. If anyone solicits you, you have a shyster on your hands. Run. As Saavedra said, check with the State Bar, which will give the status and any disciplinary action.
This is going to require a firm that’s done this work before, has a line of credit to advance costs and field an army against Los Angeles and the mother county, which will farm the defense out to private firms. Edison the same.
Al Sharpton will push damages on steroids for discrimination. What a mess. Internecine warfare against dump collection sites, lawyers and Al Sharpton. As Billie Holiday sang, “God bless the child that’s got his own.”
