He was born in New York to Eleanor and Robert Hannan in 1945 and moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1947 where he developed his love of fishing and eventually cheered on the Florida Gators, his Alma Mater. Hollywood is where Michael met and married Dale Lefton and where his daughter, Kelly was born.

Michael was a true Renaissance Man. He was passionate about music, both listening to and composing on his piano and keyboards, and loved creating delicacies in the kitchen from smoked meats, his famous Caesar salad, tortillas made and distributed to neighbors and pizza on the grill, to name just a few.

Michael was a whiz at computers, electronics and stereo equipment, and there was nothing that he broke that he couldn't fix. He loved puttering around in the garage and found great pride in his yard and garden, especially in his basil bin, which he cultivated into just about the best pesto around.

When he moved to Boulder in 1996, Michael was often accused of representing the Boulder Chamber of Commerce because he loved his life so much. There wasn't a Sunday morning when he wasn't out hiking, but back home in time to watch the Denver Broncos play that day.

Michael began his Real Estate career in 1968 until he went to Law School to be a Real Estate attorney. He was working with clients right up to the end of his life.

Papa Michael took such pride in his two grandchildren's accomplishments and never missed a theater performance, art show or sporting event, of which there were so many.

Michael leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Dale, daughter Kelly, son (in-law) Brad Schoenfeld, granddaughter Anna, grandson Reed, mother Eleanor Hannan and sisters Sydney Hannan and Laurie Anton, and his crazy Aussiedoodle, Avon.
