William Scott Johnson, 87, passed away on March 19, 2025, in Centennial, Colorado. Born on March 3, 1938, in Newton, Colorado, William lived a full and vibrant life marked by professional dedication, adventurous pursuits, and deep connections w ith family and friends. William attended high school in Newton, Iowa, before continuing his education at Drake University. There he earned his CPA certificate—a credential that would shape the course of his professional life. He went on to serve as a Certified Public Accountant for the Internal Revenue Service throughout his entire career. His commitment to public service and financial integrity left a lasting impact on those who worked alongside him. Beyond his professional accomplishments, William was a man of many passions. An avid sportsman, he hunted both large and small game across North America and made several trips to Africa to hunt more exotic game. He enjoyed fishing as well. His home bore the stories of these excursions through an impressive collection of memorabilia and countless photographs that he loved to share with others. His storytelling brought these experiences vividly to life for all who listened. He pursued physical fitness throughout his life and remained in good health. William also had a deep love for recreational activities. He participated in the Boulder Boulder race for many years, demonstrating his enduring energy and enthusiasm for staying active. But it was golf that truly captured his heart. A skilled golfer who played as often as possible, William counted golfing at St Andrews among his most cherished memories—a testament to both his talent and passion for the sport. For the past 14 years, William shared his life with Louise Lamotte. Together they embraced every moment—golfing, attending social gatherings, dining out, traveling extensively, and splitting their time between Arizona and Colorado. Their partnership was filled with joy and activity; they rarely sat still as they enjoyed a rich calendar of events and adventures. Family was central to William’s life. He was the proud father of Elizabeth Young, Kimberly Johnson, Barbara Johnson Stern, and Jennifer Poynter. He also welcomed Daniel Stern into the family as a son-in-law. He was grandfather to Emily and Olivia Young and Andrew and Matthew Poynter, William found immense joy in their presence—often showing his affection by generously indulging them with sweets. His pride in their accomplishments was evident to all who knew him. He is also remembered by his sister Dixie Boetcher and niece Julie. William carried with him the memory of his grandaughter Josie Poynter, whose passing has left a lasting mark on the family’s heart.<div></div><br>
