SAN PABLO >> Two 31-year-old men are in county jail after their arrests Thursday on suspicion of multiple charges in connection with a shooting earlier this month at a store parking lot, authorities said.
In a statement posted to social media, police said that officers responded shortly after 11:30 p.m. to a ShotSpotter alert for possible gunfire in the 1300 block of 23rd Street. When officers arrived moments later at Bonfare Market, 1321 23rd St., they spoke with five people who told them that they had been sitting in a parked vehicle when two other people confronted them.
Soon after the confrontation, the two drove away in a vehicle, and one of them shot three times at the vehicle. None of the five people were injured, police said.
After using surveillance-camera footage, investigators identified the suspects’ vehicle and its registered owner, a Rodeo man, and a San Pablo man as the other suspect.
Around 5 a.m. Thursday, sheriff’s deputies joined police officers in serving search warrants at homes in the 900 block of Sandpoint Drive in Rodeo and the 2100 block of Emeric Avenue in San Pablo.
Both men were arrested and booked into Martinez county jail on suspicion of attempted homicide and other gun-related violations. Three firearms and other evidence linking the men to the shooting were recovered, police said.
