An East Chicago man was charged Friday after allegedly shooting off an AR-15-type rifle that pierced a Gary home. No one was hurt.
Brandon L. Morris, 24, is charged with one count of criminal recklessness, a level 5 felony.
He posted a $3,000 cash bond on Monday. A court date is not yet set.
Gary police responded around 6:15 p.m. Wednesday to the 200 block of Hanley Street.
A woman said she was eating dinner with her mom when they heard shots outside the house. One window was shattered. Police found rifle and handgun shell casings.
A witness told police there were three men in black pants on the next block with guns. Two took off in a white Honda. Officers pulled the car over near 3rd Avenue and Clark Road.
Morris, the driver, was arrested. A male passenger had an outstanding warrant. Public court records do not yet show charges for the passenger in this case.
Police confiscated a Glock handgun and a still “hot” rifle next to Morris in the car.
