The Tampa Bay Rays became the first major league team since the 1987 Milwaukee Brewers to open the season with 10 straight wins, getting a solo homer from Brandon Lowe in the eighth inning to beat the visiting Boston Red Sox 1-0 on Monday night.

Lowe homered for the third straight game, sending a one-out pitch from Chris Martin (0-1) into the right-field stands.

The 1987 Brewers and 1982 Atlanta Braves share the major league record for the best start to a season at 13-0.

PHILLIES 15, MARLINS 3 >> Alec Bohm went 3 for 5 with a homer and six RBIs and host Philadelphia tagged NL Cy Young Award winner Sandy Alcantara for nine runs in a rout over Miami.

Brandon Marsh and Jake Cave added solo homers as the Phillies pounded out 20 hits.

The Phillies hammered Alcantara (1-1) for five runs in the third and four more in the fifth.

METS 5, PADRES 0 >> Max Scherzer shut down San Diego for five innings, Jeff McNeil and Francisco Lindor each laced a two-run double, and New York won at home.

A single by Ha-Seong Kim off Scherzer (2-1) with one out in the fifth was San Diego’s only hit until the ninth. Scherzerr struck out six and walked three.

PIRATES’ CRUZ OUT four months >> Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop had surgery late Sunday to repair a fractured left ankle and is out at least four months.

Cruz’s left leg bent awkwardly underneath him as he tried to score from third on a chopper in the sixth inning Sunday against the White Sox.

RED SOX’S DUVALL FRACTURES WRIST >> Boston Red Sox center fielder Adam Duvall was placed on the injured list with a distal left wrist fracture.

Duvall was hurt while attempting a diving catch Sunday. He’s hitting .455 with four homers and 14 RBIs.
