The importance of conserving water
Marin County is not currently in a drought. By March 27, we had 51.78 inches of rain at Lake Lagunitas. Our seven reservoirs were 99.98% full by that date.
In California, the human water use is 101 to 125 gallons per person per day.
We use 70% of that water indoors and 30% outdoors.
Indoors, the largest amount of water used is for toilets (24%), followed by showers (20%), faucets (19%) and washing machines (17%).
Let’s continue conserving water by brushing our teeth with a glass of water, flushing only when necessary, taking shorter showers and using our dishwasher and washing machine with full loads. We can also conserve water in our gardens by having an efficient irrigation system and using mulch.
Conserving water will protect our human health and the environment.
