The Chiefs blocked Broncos Wil Lutz’s 35-yard field goal attempt as time expired on Sunday, and two-time defending Super Bowl champs escaped with a 16-14 win over the visiting Broncos to extend their winning streak to 15 games dating to last season.

The Chiefs had taken the lead on Harrison Butker’s field goal with 5:57 remaining, but Bo Nix and the Broncos converted on a trio of third downs while marching right back down field. They proceeded to set up Lutz for the winner, but Leo Chenal was given credit for coming up the middle amid a big push by the Chiefs’ defensive line to get his hand on the kick.

Patrick Mahomes finished with 266 yards passing and a TD for the Chiefs, who became only the fifth team to follow up a Super Bowl triumph by winning their first nine games. That also matches the best start to a season in franchise history.

The Bills extended their win streak to five with their first victory in Indianapolis since 1998. Flacco had four turnovers — three INTs and a fumble. He also threw for two TDs in his second start in place of the benched Anthony Richardson.

Vikings 12, Jaguars 7: The Vikings held the Jags to 143 yards and overcame Sam Darnold’s three INTs to earn the road win. John Parker Romo’s fourth FG late in his NFL debut proved the game-winning score.
