Musk/Trump
Re “Assessing Musk’s criticism of halted spending deal” (Dec. 20):
Thanks for publishing this article that highlights a new reality in our country where a self-proclaimed know-it-all who bought a position in the new administration used lies and scare tactics to bring down a much-needed compromise on funding the government. Musk’s interference shows that we now are a de facto oligarchy, just like Russia.
Even before the new administration has been installed, Trump and Musk have already demonstrated their incompetence.
It is scary to know that the budget and everything else important to our nation is now solely in the hands of the wing nuts.

Musk’s spending deal
The article criticizing the spending deal Dec. 20 was totally one-sided. They cherry-picked things they chose to fact check but ignored all of the truthful ones he proposed, many of which were very good with savings of billions of dollars. Same old one-sided reporting with not telling the whole truth. Why not print an article with all of the proposed spending that is a complete waste of taxpayer money. I like what the owner of the L.A. Times is proposing. Print both sides of the story and not just the side you are trying to promote.

Trump isn’t president yet
Donald Trump and his merry elves (Elon Musk is the head elf) seem to forget one thing. Even the senators and representatives forget. He is not the president yet. If Congress wants to clear up some things to keep the government flowing smoothly, do it! He will take his seat at the head of our America Jan. 20, 2025. Until then Joe Biden is the president. Respect him in his position. Let him finish the job he started.

Musk’s donation to Trump
As we all know, over the years, President-elect Donald Trump has marketed and sold many items. Watches, sneakers, NFTs, crypto, to name a few. However, his most recent endeavor may be his most profitable. He has sold himself (and the U.S. presidency) to Elon Musk for the bargain price of roughly $250 million in campaign contributions. And soon a Trump puppet with Musk pulling the strings may be available for purchase online.
