Get ready to get your nostalgia on because Santa Monica is going old school with a new roller rink in the heart of downtown.
Tickets are on sale for Roll @ Santa Monica, which opens Aug. 10 and runs through Oct. 14. The 4,800-square-foot outdoor rink will be at 1324 Fifth St. and will be open from noon to 10 p.m. Sundays-Thursdays and noon to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
While Santa Monica has long offered an ice rink during winter, this is the first time the city has hosted a roller skating rink. And people can expect a nostalgic good time with themed nights Aug. 14, Sept. 11 and Oct. 9 from 6 to 10 p.m. that will include music and other entertainment.
And if you can’t skate, don’t worry about it because the L.A. Skate Hunnies, a group started by women that offers lessons and organizes meet-ups and pop-up skate events, will offer group lessons from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sundays.
An opening event will take place from noon to 2 p.m. and 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 10. Tickets are $18.14 with taxes, which include two hours of skate rental. The rink is also available for private events.
