Woman arrested for threatening school group gave false name to police
Boulder police have recaptured a woman who they say missed a court date after brandishing a knife at a school group and threatening teachers and students this week.
Alyiah Faith Vega, 52, faces 19 charges of felony menacing and 17 counts of child abuse, according to court records.
Police said in a news release that an arrest warrant for failure to appear was issued after Vega did not show up for a court hearing Thursday afternoon.
Vega was wielding a knife when she started following two teachers and a group of children in the 1700 block of Broadway shortly before 11 a.m. Monday, police said.
The group walked away, and Vega was arrested that day. She was released Tuesday on a $5,000 personal-recognizance bond, which was revoked Thursday.
She was arrested again late Thursday. Police said she originally identified herself using the name of a family member.
Vega also has active warrants out of Boulder County, Lakewood and Edgewater related to drugs, criminal impersonation and DUI, police said.
Male inmate dies in jail
A man was found unresponsive and pronounced dead Thursday night while incarcerated at the Adams County jail, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies noticed the man appeared to be foaming at the mouth about 10:43 p.m. during a twice-hourly security check, the office said Friday.
Emergency medical workers tried to revive the man for about 30 minutes before he was declared dead. Deputies said the man had been at the jail since Wednesday. His identity will be released by the coroner’s office.

Significant I-70 delays expected this weekend
Metro Denver residents hitting the road to enjoy a spring weekend or celebrate Mother’s Day can expect significant delays on Interstate 70 because of ongoing repair work, state officials said.
Several sections of I-70 will have lane or shoulder closures as crews work to fix a section of stormwater pipe under the road, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.
The closures include the left lane of eastbound I-70, the eastbound I-70 express lane and the left shoulder of westbound I-70 between Interstate 225 and Chambers Road in Aurora.
Repair work is scheduled to continute through 5 a.m. Monday.
Drivers should take alternate routes, CDOT officials said.
