The Marin Catholic girls basketball team capped off the winter campaign by winning the second state title in program history following a 48-38 win against Mater Dei Catholic in the Division III championship game on Friday in Sacramento.
With winter now officially in the books, we can turn our focus to spring — where the baseball season is already through two full weeks while softball was set to begin Monday, weather permitting.
San Marin, Tam, and Novato were among the teams to register sweeps in baseball last week with both the Mustangs and Hornets riding dominant pitching efforts.
Dominant pitching is also a staple in softball with Tam throwing a no-hitter. Marin Catholic and Archie Williams both registered one hitters.
Track had a big weekend of invitationals with several athletes from Marin turning in standout performances.

Gigounas also played a key role in the title game with eight points and 11 rebounds to go along with a strong defensive effort. Spagnuolo and Frazier made their presence felt in the NorCal title game on Tuesday. Spagnuolo had 15 points and eight rebounds as MC took down Justin-Siena for the second time this postseason.
