A Gary man is charged with several felonies after punching and pistol-whipping a woman.

After going back to apologize the next day, he pointed a gun and threatened to shoot her toddler as he left, charges allege.

Devonte Green, 28, has not been apprehended in the case. He is ordered held without bond.

He is on bond for an attempted murder case where he threatened and shot his then-girlfriend’s friend in the leg in April.

Court filings show a hearing to revoke his bond in that case is set for Tuesday.

Gary Police responded on Sept. 19 to Methodist Hospitals Northlake. The latest victim told a detective she was in an “on-and-off” relationship with Green.

Green got jealous, accusing her of texting other men.

When she woke up at 3 a.m. Sept 19, Green was standing over her, then got into bed. He picked up the argument and started cursing and hitting the woman, saying he would kill her.

He pulled some hair out of her head and then started to stomp her, according to the affidavit.

He got out a handgun, racked it, then pistol-whipped the woman.

He ordered her to stay in the bedroom when the woman’s two kids, aged 6 and 3, woke up crying.

The next day, Green returned. The woman’s sister was also there. He started to apologize but got angry when he heard a text from her other phone.

Green broke the phone and then threatened to kill her when she left work.

On the way out, he drew his gun at the woman’s daughter, 3.

“Shut…up, or I’ll shoot her,” he said.

Gary officers found Green at the woman’s work just before 6:30 p.m. that day.
