Junior center Violet Rubin scored seven goals and drew two exclusions, and the Santa Cruz High girls water polo team emptied its bench in a 21-9 win over Harbor in the teams’ Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League match on Thursday night.

Senior captain Giulia D’Souza scored six goals, including three in the first quarter, as the Cardinals built an early lead. She also made three steals.

Senior attacker Daphne Olson had three goals, two assists, and three drawn ejections, and senior utility Kat Fanni scored a goal and made two steals. Senior Amalia Terrazas had a goal, three assists, three steals, and drew a penalty. Sophomore Camille Cortazzo scored two goals, and senior Malia Cooper scored a goal.

Sophomore goalie Sage Steller-Croll made seven saves, had two assists and a steal. Freshman goalie Evie Watkins had three saves.

Senior captain Abigail Higgins had six goals, three steals, and drew two ejections for the Pirates. Fellow senior captain Serena Manildi scored a goal, had four assists and four steals, and drew an ejection.

Sophomores Malalai Martin Etemadi and Morgan Lakey also scored for Harbor.

Sophomore goalie Kallista Whitmore made eight saves and four steals for the Pirates (4-4, 0-2), who host Hollister on Friday to open play in the Harbor Tournament.

Santa Cruz plays at Los Altos on Friday at 4 p.m.

Boys water polo

Santa Cruz 22, Harbor 3 >> Pa’kalani Vaka-Saxton had six goals, one assist and four steals in the Cardinals’ SCCAL win Thursday.

Junior Nikolaus Kay had four goals, two assists and four steals, and sophomore Xavier Hunter had four goals and two steals. Junior Hayden Johnson had three goals and two steals.

Seniors Gio Marini and Mattias Cruz each scored twice, and Jace Sandman and Tate Wilson each added a goal. Wilson also had four assists.

Sophomore goalie Laird Bowser made six saves for the Cardinals.

Girls tennis

Scotts Valley 6, at Soquel 1 >> The Falcons swept all four singles matches in straight sets and won two of three doubles matches in their SCCAL victory Thursday.

The match was moved from Scotts Valley to Soquel due to extreme heat.

In singles play, junior Aila Papadopoulos beat Malia Martin 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1, senior Sofia Niklaus defeated Addie Somerville 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2; senior Erin Szymanski defeated Kassidy Seibert 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3, and senior Ava Keller beat Alex Pounds 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4.

In the most competitive match of the day, the Scotts Valley doubles tandem of Maya Wexler and Riya Kuriakose outlasted Ayla Hymes and Lucy Federspiel 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 (10-1) in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 1. Falcons seniors Skylar Dufour and Dillon Fiorita won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.

Soquel’s Lia Chiavamonte and Kiley Vanderpool won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.

Scotts Valley, (3-2, 2-1) hosts Harbor on Tuesday at 4 p.m. and travels to Felton on Wednesday to play SLV in makeup match that was cancelled on Tuesday due to extreme heat.

Girls golf

At Aptos 178, Harbor 198 >> Adeline Burgiss shot 15-over-par 40 over the opening six holes at Seascape Golf Club on Thursday and the Mariners won their SCCAL match.

Lilly McGee (43) Lemi Anastasopolous (46), and Ava Chekouras (49) also scored for the Mariners (4-1).

Olivia Strusis-Bregante (47), Sadie Morey (50), Frances Fernandez (50) and Jessica McMillan (51) scored for the Pirates.

Aptos hosts Soquel at Seascape on Tuesday.

Soquel 161, SLV 165 >> The Cougars’ Reagan Atkinson shot 33 over the opening six holes for medalist honors at Delaveaga Golf Course on Thursday, but the Knights earned the narrow SCCAL win.

Joey Burgos (36), Chelsea Myers (39), Hailey Hegueros (43) and Clara Latham (43) scored for the Knights (3-3). Latham earned the only par of the day on No. 3.

Ella Cook (40), Sammy Shults (44), and Lexi Munoz (48) also scored for the Cougars.

Soquel faces Aptos at Seascape Golf Club on Tuesday.

Girls volleyball

Harbor 3, Aptos 0 >> Senior outside hitter Isla Johnson hit .500 with 15 kills and two aces, and the Pirates earned a 28-26, 25-16, 25-11 sweep in their SCCAL match Thursday.

Senior middle blocker Sabine Kemos hit .526 with 11 kills and made three blocks for the Pirates. Senior outside hitter Maren O’Farrell had 10 kills, 11 digs, and two blocks, and sophomore middle blocker Cecile Novembre hit .563 with 10 kills and made two blocks.

Harbor (12-7, 7-0) travels to Soquel on Tuesday for the annual Dig Pink Match to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.

St. Francis 3, Notre Dame-Salinas 0 >> Junior setter Georgia Otzman and junior outside Peyton Orradre served a combined 21 aces in the Sharks’ 25-13, 25-18, 25-20 sweep in their PCAL Cypress Division match Thursday.

Senior middle blocker Carley Anderson had eight aces and five kills for the Sharks (11-6, 3-3)
