Very poor traffic flow in Boulder’s hinterlands
Road construction — great. Coordination of construction, poor. Traffic safety is a function of many variables. The least considered is the efficient movement of traffic. Without it, people get frustrated and hurried and drive erratically. Traffic flow changes during the day. Traffic Lights need to change daily to allow for more efficient movement. There is very poor traffic flow in Boulder’s hinterlands typically, and now with some construction, it has become a real danger. It took five lights to get to South Boulder Road from 75th. Rush hour traffic was backed up from Spine to the Diagonal. Mid-day — two long lights or three to get from 63rd to Diagonal. Come on! Let’s get better. Let’s make Boulder safer!

The amusing hypocrisy of some Trump supporters
I couldn’t help but read with some amusement an open forum note (11/8/24) from a gentleman in Loveland that said “Considering how Kamala Harris handled her responsibility for dealing with illegal immigrants, how could any of us have voted to hand her the reins for governing our entire nation?” Well instead the person who has the reins to govern the entire nation now is a convicted felon, sexually assaulted a woman, is a misogynist, a racist, a habitual liar, has not been faithful to his wives, and any number of other issues that is a reflection of his moral fiber. Go Figure!

‘The better angels of our nature’ need to arise
Seventy-five million plus voters made their voices heard, “Wokeism and Identity Politics” are not wanted. Also true, the influence of national media in shaping public opinion has lessened significantly. Before, during the campaign and even now there’s been a one-sided effort by letters to the editor, political cartoons and syndicated columnists to name-call, post unsupported predictions and lie to further the left’s progressive agenda. Collectively and individually, these offerings can best be characterized by words penned years ago by Shakespeare, “…a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
Blue state governors, including our own, are actively planning to obstruct the coming administration’s efforts to correct the country’s problems, putting the rights of illegals and their own political ambitions ahead of the citizens they represent. The nation’s Republicans, independents and others are speaking out for what’s in the best interest of the country and are willingly extending an offer to work with all citizens to make things better. Each of us can choose to accept, ignore or oppose that offer. The claim to love country requires love of its citizens.
On a final note, for those who predict a threatened future, keep a copy of your pronouncements and in the privacy of your room compare them to reality as time passes. Heated arguments and baseless predictions need to be put aside, and paraphrasing Lincoln, “The better angels of our nature” need to arise.
