SANTA CLARA >> Ten practices at 49ers’ training camp will be open to the public, starting with their July 25 session, the team announced Thursday.

Players are due to report two days earlier on July 23. Rookies will report on July 16.

Other open practices at the team’s Santa Clara headquarters are July 26, 29, and 30, and Aug. 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7.

Those practices lead into their preseason opener Aug. 10 at the Tennessee Titans in Nashville.

Season-ticket members get first crack at buying tickets ($10 apiece) on Monday at 9 a.m. Sales to the general public open Thursday, July 18, at noon, with those tickets priced at $20 each.

Defensive mastermind Kiffin dies at age 84 >> Monte Kiffin, the longtime NFL and college assistant coach whose Tampa Bay defenses routinely ranked among the league’s best, has died. He was 84.

One of the architects of the ultra successful Tampa 2 defensive scheme, Kiffin spent 13 seasons as defensive coordinator of the Bucs under former coaches Tony Dungy and Jon Gruden from 1996 to 2008 and helped the franchise win the first of its two Super Bowl titles.

Belichick joining ‘Inside the NFL’ >> Bill Belichick has added a second media job for the upcoming season.

The CW Network announced that Belichick will be one of the analysts on “Inside the NFL.” Belichick, who coached the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl titles during his 24 years at the helm, will also appear on the Manningcast during “Monday Night Football.”

NCAA committee approves Indianapolis to host all 3 men’s finals >> Indianapolis will host championships for all three NCAA divisions and the NIT in 2026, and the governing body’s men’s basketball committee has also approved including the Torvik and Wins Against Bubble rankings among metrics in evaluating teams for next year’s tournament.

The Indiana capital and NCAA home was previously chosen in 2018 to host the men’s Division I Final Four for the ninth time from April 4-6, 2026, at Lucas Oil Stadium. Finals for Divisions II and III have been added for the Sunday before the top-level title game at nearby Gainbridge Fieldhouse, with the NIT championship site to be determined. The NIT will hold its semifinals on April 2, 2026, at Butler’s Hinkle Fieldhouse.
