Hop Into Reading information session: 6 p.m. Tuesday, George Reynolds Branch, 3595 Table Mesa Drive, Boulder. Learn about Hop Into Reading, a program that offers foundational reading skills instruction and practice for rising kindergarten and first grade students. K-1 students are paired with a high school volunteer tutor for 14 summer sessions (twice per week), with the option to continue into the school year (once a week). The high school students are supported with training and materials by a local literacy interventionist who will be present at all sessions. Opportunities for parent education will be available throughout the summer. Each session, pairs will spend 45 minutes working on developmentally appropriate early reading skills. Instruction will focus on building strong phonological awareness and phonics skills to support future literacy success.
