SANTA CRUZ >> The city of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation Department recently announced that community members can register for winter and spring classes and programs.

Registration officially opened Monday for activities for all ages, from sports, fitness and outdoor activities to arts and crafts classes and beyond. Some of the new activities this year feature after-school enrichment programs for youths including the “Drawn2Art” drawing and painting program. Other new activities include roller skating at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium, where participants can rent skates and choose from open skate sessions, single-day options and lessons.

The Parks and Recreation Department also has a slate of free community classes lined up this year such as bird watching in Westlake Park and Neary Lagoon, pilates at the Civic Auditorium, bike skills and safety courses, among others.
