A pair of Lafayette twin sisters are in custody after police say one of them intentionally hit a man with her car and fled the scene in Lafayette last week. The second sister, who police say threatened the man, was arrested Wednesday, July 9.

Jennifer Darlene Dolloff, 43, was arrested Friday after police say she intentionally drove her car over a curb, striking a man on July 1. The man said he was walking his dog at his usual spot about 6:30 p.m. July 1 when he tripped while crossing the street. He braced himself on the SUV police say Dolloff was driving, which started an altercation on the east-west stretch of Waneka Parkway.

Jennifer, who had a revoked license at the time of the incident, according to the affidavit, reportedly got into the driver’s seat after her sister, Melinda Christine Dolloff, 43, took the first turn driving.

Police say Melinda switched seats with Jennifer, before Melinda shouted to the victim, “Hey, my crazy friend is driving now.”

Police used surveillance footage from a nearby church and gas station to confirm that Melinda started yelling at the man after he leaned on her vehicle.

The man was in a parking lot when Jennifer drove the vehicle over a curb to hit him, the footage shows, according to the affidavit. Officers wrote she exhibited an intent to hit him by driving over the curb while turning her vehicle away from the roadway.

Police said Jennifer immediately drove off, leaving the scene of the incident.

Jennifer was arrested two days after her sister, Melinda, was arrested in connection with the hit-and-run. Jennifer is in custody at the Boulder County Jail with bond set at $20,000, according to online court records. She is expected to be charged with first-degree assault, vehicular assault, menacing, habitual offender of driving a vehicle with a revoked license and failure to remain at the scene after an accident involving serious bodily injury.

Melinda was arrested Wednesday, and is expected to face the same charges, except the revoked license charge. Her bond was set at $10,000.

The twins are both scheduled for a return filing of charges hearing in Boulder County District Court on Tuesday.
