Fairfax Charles Hermann, known as Chuck to friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025.
Chuck was born in San Francisco on Feb 6, 1942.
Chuck spent his early years in Nebraska and San Francisco, then graduated from Purdue University.
Chuck then pursued a career in engineering, working for Bechtel as a mechanical engineer, designing nuclear plants among other things.
Chuck himself used to joke that he “glowed in the dark”.
He lived and worked in San Francisco, then moved to Fairfax, CA in 1974 where he lived until his death. Chuck was a long time Olympic Club member and a regular at Marin Joe’s, San Francisco Joe’s and Tadichs. He enjoyed a full life; as a pilot of small planes, asahunter, and as a friend and loving partner.
Upon retirement, he and his long term partner, Alice, enjoyed traveling. This included a time share in Mazatlan, regular trips to Europe, trips to Argentina, Japan, Turkey and Lebanon.
He is survived by his long term partner of over 40 years, Alice Bartholomew.
