The deadline to file for an exemption from the Davis Special Library parcel tax is June 1.

According to a Yolo County press release, exemptions are available for the following properties:

Agricultural Property: Property zoned and used for agriculture that does not contain a residence.

Non-Buildable Property: Property that cannot be developed due to a permanent incapacity. This includes small or irregular parcels that have not merged with adjacent parcels and cannot serve as separate building sites due to size or other permanent limitations.

Low-Income Property Owners: Property owned and occupied by individuals with a total household income below 200% of the annual Poverty Guideline for a Family of Four, as published by the Department of Health and Human Services, for the year in which the proof is submitted. For 2024 this threshold is $62,400.

A separate exemption must be completed for each parcel on which an exemption is requested. The special library parcel tax is earmarked for the expansion of the facilities and services of the Mary L. Stephens Davis Branch Library and funding for library services at the new Walnut Park Library in South Davis. The library special tax for fiscal year 2025-26 is $172.22 for a single-family residence, and $86.11 per unit for a multi-family residence.
