Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders is shuffling the deck a bit on his coaching staff this offseason.

According to a video posted on YouTube by Thee Pregame Show, there have been a few changes to the staff as the Buffaloes begin preparing for the 2025 season.

Most notable is that George Helow, who was hired in August as a senior defensive assistant, has been introduced to the team as the new defensive ends/outside linebackers coach. He is set to replace Vincent Dancy, who left the Buffs for a job at Mississippi State earlier this month.

Helow was the linebackers coach at Michigan from 2021-22 and spent a brief time in the winter of 2023 on the staff at Alabama. He was hired by Alabama as an analyst in December of 2023 ahead of its matchup with Michigan in the College Football Playoff semifinals.

Helow also spent four seasons (2016-19) on the staff at Colorado State. He played at Mississippi from 2006-10.

George Hegamin, Gunnar White and Tommie Robinson have new positions, as well.

Hegamin, who spent this past year as director of leadership and engagement, has been tabbed as a co-assistant offensive line coach, teaming up with White, who is in the same role. White was a quality control coach this past season.

CU is in transition with its leadership at offensive line after coach Phil Loadholt went to Mississippi State earlier this month. It’s unclear if Coach Prime and the Buffs will hire another offensive line coach to lead the group or if they’ll go with Hegamin and White in a co-coach role.

Robinson, meanwhile, is listed as the assistant running backs coach. This past season he was the director of quality control and oversaw special teams.

Earlier this week, it was reported, through Thee Pregame Show, that Michael Pollock has been tabbed as the Buffs’ special teams coordinator. He spent the past two years as a quality control coach for the offense.

Per the video posted by Thee Pregame Show, seven assistants appear set to return in the roles they had this past season, including offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur and defensive coordinator Robert Livingston. Andre Hart (linebackers), Kevin Mathis (cornerbacks), Damione Lewis (defensive tackles), Jason Phillips (wide receivers) and Bret Bartolone (tight ends/inside receivers) are also back.

Gary Harrell, who has been the assistant head coach and running backs coach the past two years, was not on the list of assistant coaches, however. His contract is set to expire at the end of the month.
