Russell Wilson has agreed on a one-year contract with the New York Giants, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press.
The person said Wilson’s deal is worth up to $21 million with $10.5 million guaranteed.
The Giants signed veteran Jameis Winston to a two-year contract last week and have the third pick in next month’s NFL draft.
The 36-year-old Wilson, a 10-time Pro Bowl selection, joins his fourth team in five years. He helped lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to the playoffs last year but the team lost five in a row to end the season after starting 6-1 with Wilson, who threw for 2,482 yards with 16 touchdown passes, five interceptions and a 96.5 passer rating.
He had 3,070 yards passing, 26 TDs and eight picks for the Denver Broncos in 2023 but was dumped after two disappointing seasons.
Wilson averaged 3,706 yards, 29 TDs and had a 101.8 passer rating in 10 seasons with Seattle, leading the Seahawks to one Super Bowl title and within one yard of another.
Wilson is 121-77-1 in 199 career starts in the regular season and 9-8 in the playoffs. He has 46,135 yards passing, 350 TDs, 111 interceptions and a 99.8 career passer rating. Wilson also has rushed for 5,462 yards and 31 TDs.
Patriots sign WR Diggs >> The New England Patriots have signed free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press, giving quarterback Drake Maye a prime target as he heads into his second season.
ESPN reported that the deal is for three years and $69 million, with $26 million guaranteed.
A four-time Pro Bowl selection with the Buffalo Bills, Diggs led the league with 127 receptions and 1,535 receiving yards in 2020. He is coming off an ACL injury that limited him to eight games last year in Houston.

Rodman back with U.S. women’s soccer team >> Trinity Rodman is back with the U.S. women’s team for the first time since last summer’s Paris Olympics.
Rodman had been nursing a back injury and was left out of both the U.S. team’s January camp and the recent SheBelieves Cup tournament. She made her return to her club team, the Washington Spirit, last weekend in an NWSL match.
U.S. coach Emma Hayes added her to a 24-player roster announced in advance of a pair of friendly matches against Brazil next month.
Rodman was part of the U.S. team’s “Triple Espresso” front line with Mallory Swanson and Sophia Wilson that helped lead the team to its fifth Olympic gold medal in Paris.
Neither Swanson nor Wilson were on the latest squad. Swanson has been taking time off for personal reasons and did not start the season with the Chicago Stars. Wilson, formerly known by her maiden name Smith, is on maternity leave.

Paolini first Italian woman to make Miami semis >> Jasmine Paolini is headed to the Miami Open semifinals for the first time. The sixth-seeded Paolini defeated unseeded Magda Linette of Poland 6-3, 6-2, becoming the first Italian women to make the seifinals at Miami.
There were six instances of Italian women making the quarterfinals there, most recently Martina Trevisan in 2023.
Paolini will face either top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka or ninth-seeded Qinwen Zheng in the semifinals. The Sabalenka-Zheng quarterfinal was scheduled for later Tuesday night, after rain postponed many of the day’s matches by several hours.
The other side of the women’s bracket is set for quarterfinal matches today, with Jessica Pegula taking on Emma Radacanu, and second-seeded Iga Swiatek facing Alexandra Eala.
