Coffee business acquired thanks to grant and Velocity help

Kuhl Beans Roasting Company has acquired Numa Coffee Co. along with the property located at 22789 Macomb Industrial Drive in Clinton Township. The acquisition was supported by a $5,000 small business support hubs grant and purchase agreement assistance provided by Velocity’s Entrepreneur in residence and small business accelerator programs.

The coffee business will continue to operate under the Numa brand and owners Drew and Karina Kuhlman have plans to introduce a new mobile coffee unit to bring their beverages to farmers markets and special events, including corporate and family celebrations. The new shop will offer chocolates and seaweed based goods and also host events including yoga meet ups, chair massage, roasting lessons and coffee tastings.

“We are thrilled to support Drew’s growth as he expands his business,” said Paula Macpherson, Executive Director of Velocity, in a news release. “His dedication to the craft and his innovative approach to coffee roasting are a perfect fit for Velocity’s Entrepreneur in Residence and accelerator programs, and we look forward to seeing his continued success.”
