Thank you, Tony Lux, for pulling the curtain back in Sunday’s Post-Tribune on how a right-wing Republican legislature is ruining public education in Indiana. Republicans will brag about how much money they’re pouring into education in the state, but they’re pouring it into charter and sectarian schools that are already flush, and not into the public school system where it’s needed.
I will start worrying about drag queens when they start walking around with assault rifles like the right wing cult.
Trump claims he has got the word that he will be arrested on Tuesday. Let’s hope he’s right. What a cause for national celebration it would be to see Trump handcuffed and perp-walked into custody.
Dr. Tony Lux, a highly respected retired educator, wrote an excellent opinion article on public schools that appeared in the P-T on 3-19-23. The article was entitled ‘Here’s what GOP state lawmakers won’t tell students in public schools.’ The article was written creatively in the form of a letter that a GOP state lawmaker would write if he were going to be fully transparent about the state of public education in Indiana. The opinion piece was factual and on target. I would have added one other critical piece. Our state lawmakers gain their positions by running for office. They must be voted in. Apparently a large number of Republican voters are ‘happy’ with what the GOP is doing with education, or there is a high level of apathy. Indiana is a red state. I suspect change will only come through the ballot box. My point is this. Both lawmakers and GOP voters are responsible for the ‘hit’ on public education! Our fight should start at the ballot box. I know Dr. Lux has supported this effort for years.
Trump thinks he is above the law, and he very well may be. His ALL CAPS rants to raise money and enrage his supporters is so dangerous and predictable. He wants to be all powerful with no guardrails. The worst President in our history deserves to be indicted. He takes the fifth and refuses to answer any questions. Don’t they know how important and what a stable genius he is?
It’s been 20 years since we invaded Iraq over a series of lies. It’s been 20 years since those lies turned some of my friends into killers, and others into corpses. I’ll never forget, or forgive this country for gleefully plunging my generation into pointless, lawless violence. I’ll never forgive the baby boomer generation for making this mess, breathing life into international jihadist terrorism, and then washing their hands of the whole affair as though it was inevitable. We could have avoided all of this. Boomers, never forget that the blood of thousands of American service members and many thousands more innocent civilians is forever on your hands.
Hey Republicans, maybe it’s better to regulate railroads and banks than woman’s reproduction rights and drag shows?
Why on earth is it that the weakest of all the cases against Trump, the so-called “hush money” case, is the first and only one so far to move forward? It’s beginning to look like Fani Willis is wimping out on the election interference charges in Fulton County, Georgia, that seem a slam dunk case. Is she intimidated by Trump and his goon squad and their barely concealed threats of violence?
A Quickly writer whines about Republican tax cuts for the wealthy, but is mute on the Biden administration bailing out the Silicon Valley Bank for amounts above and beyond the FDIC limit of $250,000 per account, which the taxpayers are on the hook for it.
Does anyone still think “we are all equal under the law”? Well it just goes to show what we all have known for years. The rich get away with everything and the majority of us get away with nothing. It is still hard for me to believe in The United States of America a TV show and a mob chief could cause the whole nation to turn against all logic. For what? This is not a video game — it is our future and a future without Trump is far better than one with Trump.
