BVSD to present school offerings to students
The school district’s second annual BVSD is the Place to Be Showcase will be a place for students and families to learn more about what schools and the district have to offer, before open enrollment starts.
The event will be at 5 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the University of Colorado Events Center, 950 Regent Drive. It will include representatives from each of the district’s 56 schools, as well as from the enrollment, food services, gifted and talented, transportation, sustainability and special education departments.

LONGMONT
Rhythm at Roosevelt will bring music to downtown
Rhythm at Roosevelt, Longmont’s annual music festival, will come to downtown Longmont from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday.
Held at Roosevelt Park, 700 Longs Peak Ave., the free festival involves a lineup of local musicians. Free attractions this year include a pop-up roller skating rink, a ropes course and ax throwing.
ALLENSPARK
Hilltop Guild to host Fall Festival on Saturday
The all-female Hilltop Guild will host its annual Fall Festival in Allenspark on Saturday.
Guests can enjoy a chili lunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. For $8, the lunch includes a bowl of chili, a piece of cornbread and a drink. Desserts will be sold for $3.
Money raised from the event will support scholarships for students in Lyons, Allenspark and Estes Park. At last month’s Allenspark Bazaar, the Hilltop Guild raised nearly $20,000 for local scholarships.
The festival will be held at the Kelley House cabin, 18720 Colo. 7, which is south of Allenspark.

Community program seeks new board members
The Community Action Programs services group seeks residents to serve on its board.
The Community Action Programs group focuses on issues affecting youth, families and people of color. The board works with Boulder County commissioners on community organizing and other initiatives. The board also works with county government staffers to create programs to serve low-income residents.
The board will be made up of people who come from low-income communities, private sector representatives and public officials.
Members will serve three-year terms and may be reappointed for up to four consecutive terms. To serve on the board, applicants must meet residency requirements and commit to regularly attending monthly meetings.
