After a great showing this past weekend in the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Finals, the Pioneer High School girls swimming team will send four swimmers to the CIF State Swim Meet set to take place at the Clovis Olympic Swim Complex this Friday and Saturday.

Senior Josephine (Jojo) Brant qualified for her spots in the 50 and 100 freestyles with her 2nd and 3rd-place finishes at the SJS section finals held May 8 and 9 in Elk Grove, with times of 23.22 and 50.99, respectively.

She will be joined by her fellow teammate Molly Terry, a sophomore, who is also swimming the 50 freestyle. She qualified with a time of 23.79, which was good enough for a 4th-place finish.

Joining the two individual competitors will be the girls relay team consisting of Brant, Terry, Sarah Starkovich and Whitney Martin.

Starkovich and Martin will swim the 200 and 400 Free relays, qualifying with times of 1:37.50 and 3:34.97, enough for 4th and 5th place at the same section meet.

“Pioneer High School is so proud of these girls,” Pioneer High School head coach Mary Park said. “They are the hardest workers I have ever had the pleasure of working with in and out of the water. They all finished sections with personal bests, and we look forward to a few more at this meet. They’ve already had a fantastic season, and this is the icing on that cake! Best of luck to all of them!”
