James E. Turre passed away peacefully on Dec. 15, 2022 at the age of 94. James was born and raised in Denver, son of George and Helen Turre. He graduated from the University of Denver Law School in 1952. Denver remained his forever home as his family was the 3rd generation of Colorado residents. During his service to the country, James married Wanda Grubin and relocated back to Denver. Together they raised three children; Stephanie (Jorge) Guevara, Martha (Rick) Herwehe and Steve (Laurel) Turre.

James and Wanda would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this December. James practiced law in Denver and served as the Municipal Judge for the city of Cherry Hills Village for 41 years. In addition to legal work, James and a couple of childhood friends formed and operated several commercial real estate partnerships which are still in existence today. James was one of the founding members of the Arapahoe County Bar Association and also enjoyed memberships at the Denver Country Club and Teton Club. Some of his favorite activities included travel, tennis, fly fishing, golf, and skiing. He learned to ski as a teenager in the 1940s, became an early member of the National Ski Patrol in the 1950’s and continued to enjoy the sport well into his 70s. James is survived by one sister, Helen Bell, and proceeded in death by one brother, George Turre. James is survived by his children, 7 grandchildren, and 4 greatgrandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
