The Clinton Township Police Department can now enroll vulnerable or impaired individuals into a special VIP database that can be used to find the person if they become lost.

The database, compiled and maintained by Michigan State Police, provides information that can be accessed by first responders in the event the VIPs are unable to identify themselves, police officials said.

“The goal of the VIP program is to return VIPs to familiar, safe environments while maintaining their dignity,” officers said in a news release.

Parents, legal guardians, those with power of attorney, or any individual with special needs can enter their loved ones’ information, fingerprints, photos, and other demographics into a State of Michigan repository.

Clinton Township police invites those who are interested in signing up for the program to contact a member of the department’s public relations team to schedule a time to enroll or answer questions.

This opportunity is open to anyone who lives or goes to school in Clinton Township.
